(Whatever happened to the old "Elements" category on deviantART? That's where this belongs...)

Anyway, took this one the other day at a birthday party at my aunt and uncle's place. I've always loved campfires, reminds me of my annual camping trips with my brother and cousin when I was younger.

Really? I'm glad you think it looks surreal, that was quite an unexpected compliment! Anyway, as I recall I just used the Sports setting for a quick shutter speed (to capture the quick movements of the flame) and snapped two takes; the flash may have fired, I don't recall. I was just shooting somewhat casually, applying some of the stuff I've learned in a laidback setting.

it does look surreal to me. its like..i dont even know how to describe it.i love it though, definitley one of my ultimate favorites!!

This is an awesome shot hunni! Similar one of mine but urs is definately better! LOL the colouring of it adds to the effect good job!

Yeah well, sometimes nicer cameras can take nicer pictures. And sometimes it's just luck.
